퍼디난드 마르코스 주니어(Ferdinand Marcos Jr.) 필리핀 대통령이 1월 29일 이틀 간 월남을 방문할 예정임. 마르코스 주니어 대통령은 방문기간 동안 보 반 트엉(武文賞) 월남 국가주석, 팜 밍 찡(范明政) 월남 정부수상, 브엉 딩 후에(王庭惠) 월남 국회주석 등과 다각적인 협력을 모색할 예정이라고 밝힘.
지난 주 말라카냥궁(Malacañang Palace)에서 열린 출발 전 브리핑에서 필리핀 외무부는 마르코스 주니어 대통령과 월남 관리들이 필리핀에 적절한 쌀 공급을 보장하고 양국 해양 협력을 개선하기 위해 더 많은 협력을 모색할 것으로 보인다고 말했음.
에일린 멘디올라-라우(Aileen Mendiola-Rau) 필리핀 외교부 아태사무청 차관보는 "필월관계는 1976년 양국 관계 수립을 시작으로 거의 50년 동안 지속되었습니다. 이번 국빈 방문은 월남이 오랜 파트너였으며, 국가의 식량 안보를 보장하겠다는 대통령의 약속과 일치합니다. 대통령의 방문에서 우리의 농업 협력에 대한 심도 있는 논의가 포함될 것으로 기대합니다.(Our relations with Vietnam has spanned for almost 50 years with the establishment of bilateral relations in 1976. The state visit is in line with the President's commitment to ensure food security in the country noting that Vietnam has been a long-time partner and it's committed to supporting the Philippines' rice requirement among others. So we expected the visit of the President would involve an in-depth discussion on our agricultural cooperation,)"라고 말함.
마르코스 주니어 대통령은 또 월남 기업 지도자들을 만나 양국 간의 무역 및 투자 협력에 관해 논의할 예정임.
